Our #5 choice for hyaluronic cream is Bio Jouvance Paris Hyaluronic Acid Cream. What we were looking for was diversity of ingredients, their quality and their potency in the formula. On the surface, this cream looked very promising, as it boasts a high percentage of hyaluronic acid and a large number of active ingredients.
However, while we did find some promising ingredients in this product, there was no indication as to how much of each ingredient was included in the formula. For a brand boldly claiming they have the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid in their formula, we definitely expected its percentage to be listed. This lack of transparency leads us to question this claim as well as any other claims this brand makes about the ingredients in their product. Additionally, we would have liked to see the research that backs up the ingredients they use.
In addition, we were shocked to discover that this brand does not accept returns. This shows very low confidence in the product, and immediately had us questioning its quality and efficacy. We were quite hesitant to continue reviewing it, as having a good return policy is very important for customers looking to find a new product. The price on this product is higher than others we reviewed, making this point even more significant.
Because we initially liked their list of ingredients and the fact that they are plant-based and chemical-free, we decided to give this brand a chance and reviewed it carefully. Read on to see what we found.
Ingredients
This product boasts a long list of impressive ingredients, including jojoba, squalene oil, and different vitamins (including vitamin A, commonly known as retinol). However, we noticed that while the brand claims to use the highest hyaluronic acid concentration, they make no mention of what percentage is actually included. Therefore, we cannot confirm this claim. Additionally, hyaluronic acid is placed relatively low on the list of ingredients, which actually means that there is comparatively little of it used in the formula. This is highly discouraging, as transparency is everything when it comes to skin-care products.
In fact, we are left in the dark about the percentage of all of the active ingredients used in this product. This is particularly important in regards to retinol, because a large quantity of it can cause skin dryness and irritation. This is vital information that we need to know when making a decision about a skin-care product.
Here is a rundown of the key ingredients in this product:
Apricot Oil - helps to improve skin tone, soften the skin, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Jojoba - moisturizes and balances the skin, provides antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
Sodium Hyaluronate - the salt form of hyaluronic acid is highly absorbable, providing optimal hydration to the skin.
Squalene* Oil - clears the skin and provides anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties.
Vitamin A - increases skin cell turnover and collagen production.
This product also contains vitamins B5, B6, B12, C, E, D.
* Please note that Bio Jouvance uses squalene (with an “e”) and not squalane (with an “a”). This is a less stable form and tends to go rancid quite easily, which destroys its beneficial properties.
We were also disappointed that this product doesn't include hydrolyzed collagen. Hydrolyzed collagen is absorbed efficiently by the skin and boosts collage production for firmer skin and reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also works synergistically with hyaluronic acid and retinol to enhance anti-aging properties and give the skin a more youthful appearance.
How To Use
Apply a generous amount to the entire face, neck and décolleté area. For sun protection, it is recommended to use sunscreen during the day time. For maximum results repeat twice a day.
Price
At first glance this product seemed to be moderately priced, but then we noticed that a jar contains half the standard amount of cream - only 1oz/30ml instead of 2oz/60ml. This much smaller amount will cost you $54, which we think is rather expensive and overpriced.
Guarantee
There is no guarantee on this product, and the brand does not accept returns. This is a huge red flag, and we were rather shocked by it.
If there is an issue with the product you receive, you only have 24 hours to contact the manufacturers regarding a return and no guarantee that they will rectify the mistake.
Conclusion
What we liked about this product is that Bio Jouvance Paris Hyaluronic Acid Cream is plant-based and chemical-free. It also boasts a long list of active ingredients. However, the amount of each ingredient is not listed and there are no studies to back up any of their claims as to the benefits of the ingredients. The lack of transparency and fact that there is no return policy really lowered the value of this product, which unfortunately also isn’t cheap. For this reason we only listed it at #5.
