One of the things that drew us to this product is that PCA Skin claims to use clinical research as a basis for their formulas. For a product with collagen in its name, this product seems to neither have collagen nor boost collagen. However, it does seem to be true to its name in terms of being a hydrator. With Shea butter, Almond extract, and Olive extract, this product provides so much moisture that it could clog pores in people with oily skin. It is important to note, that this is not suitable for all skin types, only dry, aging skin. The majority of reviews are positive but they too dwell on the moisturizing properties of this cream. Moisture can plump up skin but only in the short term whereas supporting collagen production actually treats the underlying cause of wrinkles and fine lines. While Shea Butter may boost Collagen production or slow down the breakdown of collagen, PCA Skin is not transparent about the amount contained in this product and doesn’t even mention the potential collagen-related benefits. There are 3 key ingredients found in this product, they are:

A few things should be noted in regards to these ingredients. One, Shea butter is often considered comedogenic, meaning that it clogs pores, though some argue that it is non-comedogenic. Two, almond extract should not be used by anyone with nut allergies as it may cause a reaction. Three, olive oil should not be used on oily skin or skin with dermatitis as it can make these conditions worse.

After cleansing the skin, apply to the face and neck. Apply a sunscreen or broad spectrum SPF product after use during the day.

PCA Collagen Hydrator is a product that moisturizes the skin to reduce or eliminate wrinkles. It uses Shea Butter, Almond Extract, and Olive Oil and is therefore not suitable for oily skin. This product does not contain collagen and we are unsure whether it supports collagen levels or just moisturizes. The customer reviews reflect that most people are satisfied with Collagen Hydrator but as with any product, success in others doesn’t guarantee success for you. The refund policy extends for 30 days from the day of purchase and you must have used less than 50% of the product in order to redeem that refund which doesn’t leave you with much time to thoroughly assess how the product works for you.
