Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is an anti-wrinkle cream that hydrates the skin. It is a product of the UK but also caters to the US. This cleverly named product has all the right words in the title but does it have the right ingredients?

Introduction
As you may have noticed, several other products on this list contain Marine Collagen which is more beneficial as its smaller peptides can penetrate the skin more easily and visible results are more noticeable. This product contains both "Marine" and "Collagen" in its title but in the reverse order. That is to say, this product does not contain Marine Collagen and we feel it’s a misleading title. Especially considering that there is no collagen in the formula at all.
Despite the name, Elemis focuses on the hydrating properties of this product and doesn’t talk about collagen. That being said, we do believe at least one ingredient is effective at boosting collagen production. The majority of reviews for this product were positive so at the very least, we suspect that this product will successfully moisturize skin to give it a smoother, plumper appearance in the short term.
Ingredients
There are only three key ingredients in this product and none of them are collagen. Elemis never mentions collagen in relation to how this product works and we had to do some digging to find any connection. The ingredients are:
- Acacia Decurrens (Mimosa) Flower Extract - Elemis advertises this ingredient simply as “mimosa”. The mimosa hostilis bark contains collagen, but this ingredient is the flower of a different plant.This ingredient is included for its anti-inflammatory and toning qualities as well as a pleasant scent.
- Rosa Centifolia (Rose) Flower Extract - This ingredient is included for its nurturing and calming effects. After some digging, we found one source who said the vitamin C in Rose extract may help to stimulate collagen production.
- Padina Pavonica - This algae is meant to “support the feeling of hydration”. However, it is clinically proven to boost collagen, therefore, we’re surprised that Elemis only focuses on the hydration aspect of Padina Pavonica.
As Elemis doesn’t disclose information about the standardization of percentages of the active ingredients, there is no way to know how much of these ingredients are actually provided in this formula.
How To Use
This product should be used in the morning after first cleansing the face and neck. You should warm a pea-sized amount between your palms followed by smoothing over the face, neck, and decollete with upward strokes.

Conclusion
Despite taking issue with the product’s name, there are enough positives about the product to earn it a spot on our list. For starters, Pro-Collagen Marine Cream contains Padina Pavonica which has been found in clinical studies to boost collagen production. Furthermore, it comes from a cruelty-free brand and undergoes third-party testing. What we didn’t like is that Elemis is not transparent about the ingredient amounts and we were puzzled as to why their collagen product doesn't actually contain collagen - which seems very odd to us.
We appreciate that this cream comes in different sizes so you can buy a container based on your needs, but were disappointed by the short return policy. The product can be returned within 30 days of purchase, though this company is based in the UK and delivery may take a few days. As far as a policy to guarantee quality, there isn’t much here. When buying a product, especially one as expensive as this, we like knowing that we have nothing to lose if it doesn’t work for us.
